Joetsu Aquarium Umigatari

Aquatic Animals

Hello there! The other day I visited Umigatari, the aquarium in Joetsu city, Niigata prefecture.

It was on August 3rd, 2024, sunny and hot.

Since it was Saturday, the aquarium had a constant stream of visitors, and the parking lot was almost full, but I managed to park my car.

I went into the building and proceeded along the path for a while and Magellanic Penguin Museum caught my eye.

Umigatari boasts No.1 in Japan in the number of reared Magellanic penguins, being so rare that I couldn’t wait to take a look at them!

I was definitely enchanted by their adorable figures 😀

After viewing the penguins, I walked along the way and headed to Touching Pool and Feeding Pool.

Seeing fish swimming has a healing effect, doesn’t it?

After that, I went back to the building and then followed the guide map.

Personally speaking, aquariums remind me of dolphin shows, I waited about an hour for another show to start and shot a video.

Dolphin shows with Sea of Japan as a background are exceptional!

Because I did not take pictures during the show, please check out my YouTube video if you are interested. There is a dolphin part in the video.

In all honesty, I wanted to relish more of the aquarium, but since students have summer holidays this month and it was Saturday, there were an extraordinary number of visitors in the aquarium, so I walked around the packed areas at a quick pace.

Alright, I am going to share some of the pictures that I took with fewer people and that’s it for today’s blog.
