Nishiyama Nikkōji Temple

Cultural Assets

Hi everyone! This time I visited Nishiyama Nikkōji Temple located in Agamachi, Higashikanbara-gun, Niigata prefecture, Japan 🙂

It was on November 3rd, 2024. Cloudy, windy and a bit chilly.

The Wooden set of Kongō Rikishi Statues at its temple gate is registered as one of the cultural properties designated by Niigata prefecture.

All right, so I am going to share with you the pictures of the temple gate first.

Oh no, I forgot to take pictures of the statues inside the temple gate.

You can barely see them, but hope you let bygones be bygones.

Next up is Bell Tower Gate.

On going through the bell tower gate, you will see Takimi Kannon sit right in front of you.

To the right of Takimi Kannon, you will see a priest’s quarters.

They say the last priest was living there shortly after WWII.

To the left of Takimi Kannon, there is an approach to Yakushidō, and when you finish walking up the stairs, you will see an obsolete chōzuya.

It looks like it has not been used for quite some time.

This is Yakushidō, where Yakushi Nyorai is enshrined.

I will wrap up this blog by uploading the rest of the photos.

See you next time. Have a peaceful day ( ^^) _U~~
