This time, I mainly came to see Reverse Bamboo: one of the seven wonders in Echigo (the current Niigata prefecture) as well as a natural monument.
It was July 7, 2024, cloudy and a little hot. Tanabata (Star Festival) is on the seventh of July, but I came here by sheer coincidence.
Firstly, I am going to share some pictures of a historic spot for Shinran Shonin adjacent to the reverse bamboo grove 😀
Secondly, the reverse bamboo grove looks like this.
Looking for the reverse bamboo, I finally found some plausible ones. They say branches growing up horizontally like these down below are categorized as one.
After stepping out of the bamboo grove, I stopped by the historic spot for Shinran Shonin again and found something like a chouzuya (where you cleanse your hands and mouth).
Looks like water will come out of the mouth of this dragon because it has a hose installed in the mouth and no one has taken care of it for a while.
