Nakayama Tunnel

Cultural Assets

Hello there! This time I visited Nakayama Tunnel located between Uonuma city and Nagaoka city, Niigata prefecture, Japan 😀

This old tunnel is the longest as a hand-dug tunnel and registered as a civil engineering heritage.

The date was on September 28th, 2024, cloudy and the temperature was just right.

All right, I am going to start with the pictures around the tunnel.

And then to the inside of the tunnel. On the left side, there was a form that visitors fill out, and signs about Nakayama Tunnel on the right side.

The inside of the tunnel was chilly enough and you can easily go through it because the width is around 2 meters.

These are the various types of signs on the wall right inside the tunnel.

Especially, I felt their passionate vibes about the movie “Horumaika – Records of Hand-dug Nakayama Tunnel.”

That’s it for today’s blog. Hope you enjoy your day! 😀
