NIIGATA Pageant of Lights 2024-2025

Good evening, everyone! I went to Keyaki Street in Niigata city just to see illuminations because I was bored to death 😀 The title of the illuminations is "NIIGATA Pageant of Lights," and this is the 37th one. This event runs from Nov. 15, 2024 to Jan. 31, 2025. It was on Jan. 13, 2025. The weather was cloudy, and it had some snow piled up. Maybe because it was Coming of Age Day, there were a lot of young people walking even at 10 p.m. You will see some of the pictures I am going to share after this modified by Magic Eraser, but hope you don't mind. All right, first of all, I am going to start with the pictures around Niigata Station.

Muroya Cave

Hello there! I went to a historical place named Muroya Cave, which is located in Agamachi, Higashikanbara-gun, Niigata prefecture, Japan 😀 The date of my visit was on December 25th, 2024. The weather was cloudy, and it had no wind. Its piles of snow show how cold it is outside. It was nothing but a normal day to me and was anything but Merry Christmas (big smile) Now, the sign in front of the cave says, “It is an indispensable site to get to know life in the Jōmon period.“

Mochikura Mine Ruins

Hi there! This time I went to Mochikura Mine Ruins located in Agamachi, Higashikanbara-gun, Niigata prefecture, Japan 😀 I had avoided going out because the weather has been terrible for the last few weeks. The date of my visit was on December 25th, 2024. It was cloudy and freezing. Came here at this time of year on purpose because you have a higher chance of encountering a bear in spring, summer and autumn. Putting that aside, Mochikura Mine had operated from the Meiji period to the Shōwa period. In 2022, it was accredited as a Recommended Industrial Heritage by Japan Industrial Archaeology Society. Allegedly, the Office Ruins were built of slag bricks, and you can tell they glitter when you take a close look at them. I am going to let my intro end here and start sharing the pictures of the Office Ruins first.

Naena Waterfall

Hi, everybody! This time I went to Naena Waterfall cascading in between Niigata prefecture and Nagano prefecture 🙂 This fall runs into Seki River and is selected as one of the Top 100 Waterfalls of Japan as well. The length of the fall from top to bottom is 55 meters, and it is also known as “Earthquake Waterfall” because the tumultuous sound it makes sounds as if it were an earthquake. It is pretty far from home, but I rolled up my sleeves and drove at midnight and got to the parking lot in Myōkō city, Niigata prefecture without trouble. Because it was drizzling, I was waiting about 2 hours for it to let up while watching anime. Speaking of Myōkō, it reminds me of Hikakin. Without further ado, let me move on to sharing the photos of Naena Waterfall.

Akasakayama Park and Shōun Sansō Villa

Good evening, everyone! This time I went to Akasakayama Park & Shōun Sansō Villa located in Kashiwazaki city, Niigata prefecture, Japan 😀 It was on November 12th, 2024. Cloudy, windy and a bit chilly. Parked my car at the parking lot after paying 1000 yen for the cooperation of their illuminations. I am going to share the photos of Akasakayama Park, followed by those of Shōun Sansō Villa. First off, this is called Great Pond next to the parking lot.
